Terms of Use for Members
The secure applications, tools and related website (the "Site") are provided to the members, former members, and beneficiaries ("Plan beneficiary", "you" or "your") of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (the "Plan") by the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board ("Ontario Teachers’"). Your access to and use of the Site is subject to these Terms of Use.
You confirm that you are a Plan beneficiary acting on your own behalf, or that you are an authorized representative of a Plan beneficiary under a valid power of attorney.
Use of Site
To access certain features of the Site, you will be required to successfully register for a user account using: (i) the Ontario Teachers’ account number that has been issued to you or your email address; (ii) a password that you will create; and (iii) any other passcode, token, biometric data or any other data or information required for verification.
By using this Site, you agree to exercise due care in the use of the Site, including (but not limited to):
- Complying with all applicable laws in registering for the Site and accessing and using the Site
- Being fully responsible for all activities occurring under your account number and password
- Logging on using only your Ontario Teachers’ account number or email address and the password that you have set
- Protecting your password and not sharing your password with others
- Not allowing others to use the Site using your account number or email address and password
- Reporting any unauthorized use of your account number, email address or password as soon as possible. Visit our Member Help Centre for our contact information.
- Not intentionally spreading viruses and other malicious computer code to Ontario Teachers’ systems or its third-party service providers
- Not attempting to decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the Site
- Not harvesting or otherwise downloading, collecting, using or storing any information (including personally identifiable information) about other users of the Site, including email addresses
- Not performing any vulnerability, penetration or similar testing of the Site
- Permitting Ontario Teachers’ or its third-party service providers to use its security tools in support of the Site; and
- Not using the Site for any purpose or in any manner not expressly permitted in these Terms of Use.
You acknowledge that internet connections you use to access the Site may not be secure and your use of such connections to access the Site is at your own risk.
Ontario Teachers’ accepts no liability or responsibility for any losses caused by or arising out of your use of, or the inability to make use of, the Site or your failure to protect the confidentiality of your password.
You also agree that the pages of the Site are written documents and that when you click buttons (Submit, Agree, Confirm, Complete, Finish, etc.) on the Site, it has the same legal effect as your signing a hardcopy version of a page and delivering it with intent to be bound.
2-step verification to Access the Site
Ontario Teachers’ uses 2-step verification during the sign-in process as a mandatory enhanced security measure to make your use of the Site safer and more secure. For these purposes, you agree to use either your phone number or a verification token generated by your device (e.g., phone or computer) in addition to your account number or email address and password to confirm your identity when signing into the Site. These options will appear on the sign-in page. If you elect to use your phone number to authenticate, you will receive a one-time passcode via your choice of call or text that you will enter each time you sign in. If you elect to use your device to authenticate, biometric data stored on your device will be used to generate and transmit a verification token to confirm your identity. Consent to Electronic Delivery and Communications
By registering for and/or using this Site, you consent to receive electronic delivery of documents including but not limited to statements, reports and other documents under the Pension Benefits Act (Ontario) and Income Tax Act (Canada) and its regulations (including, but not limited to T4As, NR4s, and RL-2s) through the Site and to receive notice that these documents have been delivered at the email contact information you have specified. You also consent to receive electronic communications from Ontario Teachers’. You may revoke this consent or change your communication preferences, including your email address, at any time, either in writing or electronically through the Site or by other electronic means. You may also request from Ontario Teachers’ a paper copy of any document that has been provided electronically. Additionally, electronic delivery of documents may not take place, or may not be the only method of delivery, if delivery is required by applicable laws to be made through other means or if we determine that it is appropriate to use other means of delivery.
Intellectual Property Rights and Other Disclaimers
Links to other sites not operated by Ontario Teachers’ are provided as references to help Plan beneficiaries identify and locate resources of interest. Ontario Teachers’ makes no representations or warranties about any other sites that may be accessed from this Site and the links should not be construed as approval or recommendation by Ontario Teachers’ of the services, products or information provided on the linked sites. Ontario Teachers’ assumes no liability or responsibility for the content, accuracy, quality, reliability, completeness, currency, non-infringement, merchantability, fitness for any purpose or appropriateness of the links or of any material contained on the linked sites. The content in any linked website is not under Ontario Teachers’ control and if you choose to access any such website, you do so entirely at your own risk.
The Site and its entire contents, features and functionality, including, but not limited to, all information, software, code, text, displays, graphics, photographs, video, audio, design, presentation, selection and arrangement, are owned by Ontario Teachers’, its licensors or other providers of such material, and are protected in all forms by intellectual property laws, including without limitation copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and any other proprietary rights and treaty provision laws. The names, logos and other identifying marks of Ontario Teachers’ and the Plan are and shall remain the trademarks of Ontario Teachers’. Information on the Site may be used by you only for your personal, non-commercial use, but may not be republished, retransmitted, reproduced, taken out of context or presented in a misleading or discriminatory manner. Any rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by Ontario Teachers’.
Ontario Teachers’ may suspend or terminate access to the Site if, in its sole discretion, it believes that the access could cause potential harm to Ontario Teachers’ or its third-party service providers’ systems, or there is a violation of these Terms of Use. You will cease and desist from any access to, or use of, the Site immediately upon request by Ontario Teachers’.
Notification of Changes to the Terms
Ontario Teachers’ may modify these Terms of Use at any time and will notify you by posting an updated version of the Terms of Use on the Site or sending you a notice of such modifications to your document centre on the Site. Such modifications to the Terms of Use will be effective immediately upon the earlier of being posted on the Site or the delivery of a notice of such modifications to your document centre on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after any such modifications will indicate your acceptance of such modifications, with continued provision of the use of the Site constituting consideration from Ontario Teachers’ to you for being bound by such modified Terms of Use.

Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then such provision will be severable from these Terms of Use and will not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions. A printed copy of these Terms of Use and of any notice in electronic form will be admissible in any judicial or administrative proceedings to the same extent and under the same conditions as other business documents and records originally generated and maintained in printed form.
These Terms of Use, along with any other legal notices or statements posted on the Site, constitutes the entire agreement between you and Ontario Teachers’ and supersedes any prior understandings or agreements (whether electronic, oral, or written) regarding the Site, and may not be amended or modified except by Ontario Teachers’ as set forth above.
You will not assign these Terms of Use to any third party without our prior written consent. These Terms of Use will inure to the benefit of and be binding upon the parties, their permitted successors and permitted assignees.
